For most of us, cartoons conjure up images of Saturday mornings spent drooling into cereal bowls while watching Roadrunner outsmart Wile E Coyote. If you’re anything like us, it feels like Bugs Bunny, Scooby Doo and Spongebob are your actual childhood friends who you know and love. While one might associate them with good feelings, laughter and joy, you may also have memories of moments that seemed excessively scary, violent, or just straight up inappropriate. Did your parent or guardian every turn something off because it was too much? Ours certainly did. Although that may have seemed annoying, it was usually for a pretty good reason – that whatever we were so fixated on watching was not age appropriate. After doing some serious internet digging, we uncovered some episodes that aired and were taken down due to pushing the envelope a little too far. You’ll see how Dexters Lab tried to get away with airing an episode where the kids mouth swear words as well as how Mighty Mouse looked as though he was snorting Cocaine. We’ll explain how Peppa Pig came out with a pro-spider episode that had Australians angry that their children believed that deadly arachnids could be befriended. In addition, we’ll be looking at how Gargoyles showed a woman getting shot, how Ren and Stimpy showed Ren beating a man to within an inch of his life, and how Pokemon could’ve used a serious trigger warning. Join us as we share what we deem to be the top fifteen worst examples of episodes that were pulled from TV.
